2006 NFL Draft Report Card-AFC South

Houston Texans

Round 1 #1 DE Mario Williams, North Carolina State
Round 2 #33 LB DeMeco Ryans, Alabama
Round 3 #65 OT Charles Spencer, Pittsburgh
Round 4 #98 OT Eric Winston, Miami
Round 6 #170 RB Wali Lundy, Virginia
Round 7 #251 WR David Anderson, Colorado State

Overall Grade: B+

Fantasy Outlook: I had to dock the Texans one full grade for not drafting Reggie Bush. However, despite the fact they passed on Bush, Houston still had a solid draft. Williams and Ryans will be stars on a defense that could eventually draw some interest in fantasy.  Spencer and Winston were both solid selections up front and should give the Texans a formidable ground game.

Indianapolis Colts

Round 1 #30 RB Joseph Addai, LSU
Round 2 #62 CB Tim Jennings, Georgia
Round 3 #94 LB Freddie Keiaho, San Diego State
Round 5 #162 G Michael Toudouze, Texas Christian
Round 6 #199 OT Charlie Johnson, Oklahoma State
Round 6 #207 S Antoine Bethea, Howard
Round 7 #238 CB T.J. Rushing, Stanford

Overall Grade: B

Fantasy Outlook: The Colts did well to get some offensive line help, which is good news for their first round pick, Joesph Addai. However, Addai has huge shoes to fill with the departure of Edgerrin James. Addai helps his cause with his home run speed and is an intriguing pick in fantasy.

Jacksonville Jaguars

Round 1 #28 TE Marcedes Lewis, UCLA
Round 2 #60 RB Maurice Drew, UCLA
Round 3 #80 LB Clint Ingram, Oklahoma
Round 5 #160 DE Brent Hawkins, Illinois State
Round 7 #213 DE James Wyche, Syracuse
Round 7 #236 CB Demetrice Webb, Florida

Overall Grade: C+

Fantasy Outlook: The Jaguars started out with three solid picks, but the rest of their draft is a little suspect.  The two players from UCLA will be impact players on offense, and both Drew and Lewis deserve fantasy consideration in keeper leagues.

Tennessee Titans

Round 1 #3 QB Vince Young, Texas
Round 2 #45 RB LenDale White, USC
Round 4 #102 S Calvin Lowry, Penn state
Round 5 #137 LB Terna Nande, Miami (Ohio)
Round 5 #169 DT Jesse Mahelona, Tennessee
Round 6 #172 WR Jonathan Orr, Wisconsin
Round 7 #215 S Cortland Finnegan, Samford
Round 7 #245 LB Spencer Toone, Utah
Round 7 #246 RB Quinton Ganther, Utah

Overall Grade: A

Fantasy Outlook:  The Titans had a solid draft.  Vince Yong should be a popular pick in fantasy. However, I think it is going to be LenDale White that will make the most noise in fantasy this season for the Titans.  White was a steal in the second round. Lowry, Nande, and Mahelona should all be starters on a defense that warrants strong fantasy consideration.
