Seattle Seahawks Clearly the Super Bowl Underdog »

time Posted on Tuesday, January 31, 2006 by Dr U | * Comments(0)

In my last post, I called out the Pittsburgh Steelers fans. I pointed out the fact that I have already been seeing bandwagon Steelers fans popping up out of the woodwork in abundance. So now I am calling out the Seattle Seahawks fans, or should I say the lone Seattle Seahawk fan?

I have noticed that it is tough to find a Seahawks fan outside of the Seattle area. I want to hear from someone that can name a player that played with the Seahawks prior to the 1990s, besides Jim Zorn, Dave Krieg, Steve Largent, Curt Warner, or Brian Bosworth.

If you are a Seattle Seahawks fan, please post a comment and explain why you feel that your team will beat the Pittsburgh Steelers. Does it bother you that your team is the top seed and is listed as the underdog to an opponent that is a sixth seed?

Pittsburgh Steelers Fan Club »

Now that the Pittsburgh Steelers are back in the Super Bowl, I have already seen an abundance of Steelers fans crawl up out of the woodwork. They all claim that they have been a fan since the days of the "Steel Curtain" defense, yet they cannot name more than two players from that defense. On the other side of the ball, Terry Bradshaw, Franco Harris, and Lynn Swann are always mentioned, but conveniently these "die-hard fans" seem to draw a blank when asked to name a fourth member from that offense. Some of the aforementioned fans were not even alive to see the 1975 Pittsburgh Steelers play, but they speak as though they were. I understand that there are always going to be bandwagon fans, but do they realize that Pittsburgh hasn’t won the Super Bowl yet?

I do not want to hear from the bandwagon fans. However, if you are truly a Steelers fan and bleed the black and gold, then please post a comment and tell me why you think your team will beat the Seattle Seahawks in Super Bowl XL.

Super Bowl Media Day »

time Posted on Friday, January 27, 2006 by Dr U | * Comments(0)

It is that time of year again…..Super Bowl Media Day. It is a time to hear all the players give their cliché responses to the media’s questions. We have heard them all….We cannot take their team lightly… We are just going to stick to our game plan…They have a team that plays well on both sides of the ball.

DR U decided to conduct his own interview and get the answers that we all really want to hear them say. The following interview is made up and in no way represents the real players. However, I have still elected to not use their names in order to keep it anonymous. I will just call one of them Steelers #36 and the other one Seahawks #37.

DR U- Mr. Seahawks #37, this could be Steelers #36’s last game, will you let him finish his career a Super Bowl champ?

Seahawks #37- Not a chance! He should have retired a long time ago. There are too many miles on the bus, and there is no way he can help his team win the big game. In fact, the Pittsburgh Steelers are not even going to want him back next year. He is totaled.

Steelers #36- Wasn’t this the same guy that was whining that his coach refused to let him go back in the game so he could try and win the rushing title?

Seahawks #37- Wasn’t he the one that choked and almost coughed up the game against the Indianapolis Colts?

Steelers #36- Wasn’t he the one that got knocked out of his first playoff game?

DR U- Mr. Steelers #36, I do not think this game is going to be won by either one of you. The ball will be in the hands of a quarterback at this end of this game. So which team has the better quarterback?

Steelers #36- What was the name of the Seattle Seahawks quarterback again? Doesn’t even matter, Big Ben is just too clutch. There is no better quarterback in this situation, except possibly Tom Brady. However, Brady is not a Seahawk.

Seahawks #37- There is no doubt that Ben Roethlisberger can play, but this game will be too big for him. He will try too hard. Matt Hasselbeck is the better quarterback.

DR U- Mr. Seahawks #37, what is your defense going to do stop Roethlisberger?

Seahawks #37- We are going to try to steal the glove that he uses on his throwing hand.

DR U- Mr Steelers #36, what will your defense do to stop Hasselbeck?

Steelers #36- With the bus running the ball, he will be lucky if there is enough time on the clock for him to even see the field in this game.

DR U- Ok fellas, I want you to tell me the final score and who wins.

Seahawks #37- Seattle-45 Pittsburgh-3

Steelers #36- Pittsbugh-56 Seattle-0

DR U- My guess is that the game will be a little closer than both of your predictions, but thanks for your fictitious time.

2. RB Emmitt Smith (Dallas Cowboys) finished his career by posting the exact same number of yards (937) in his final season as he did his rookie season. Of course, sandwiched in between those years, Smith had 11 straight 1,000-yard seasons.
3. QB Len Dawson (Kansas City Chiefs) once had seven fumbles in a single game, which is the most in a game by any single player.
4. The Chicago Bears hold the record for the most games finished in a tie over a single season with six ties (1932).
5. The most touchdowns scored in a season by a team was the 1984 Miami Dolphins with 70 TDs.
6. QB Ben Roethlisberger (Pittsburgh Steelers) has the highest passer rating for a quarterback in their rookie season in NFL history (98.1).
7. QB Peyton Manning (Indianapolis Colts) holds the record for most passes attempted by a rookie with 575.
