2007 Fantasy Football Player Profile-Randy Moss
- 2 Comment
WR Randy Moss, New England Patriots
2006 Stats: 42 receptions, 553 receiving yards, 3 TDs
Projected 2007 Stats: 67 receptions, 938 receiving yards, 9 TDs
Projected Fantasy Round: 9th Round
Wide Receivers to be Picked ahead of Randy Moss: Terrell Owens, Chad Johnson, Steve Smith, etc.
Fantasy Outlook:
Why should you draft Randy Moss: After two disappointing years in Oakland, Randy Moss will now have the luxury of hauling in passes thrown by Tom Brady. Moss appears to be motivated now as he reportedly ran faster than a 4.3-40 time, and he has reported to camp sooner than he has in previous years. The last time Moss played an entire season healthy and motivated, he racked up 1632 receiving yards and 17 touchdowns (2003).
Why you may want to stay away from drafting Randy Moss: Over the last two seasons, Moss has averaged, by his standards, a pedestrian 51 receptions, 779 receiving yards and 5.5 touchdowns. Moss did not miss a single game in his first six seasons, but he has been absent from six games over the past three years.
Bottom Line: The success of Moss hinges on his focus and health. Since both attributes have been relatively non-existent the past few seasons, Moss should be viewed as a No.2 Wide receiver in fantasy. He is a high risk-high reward fantasy player with the potential to be the best receiver, or continue in his recent mediocrity, relegating him to being nothing more than a fantasy reserve. That being said, Moss will likely slide into the middle-to-late rounds, and if he does fall somewhere in that range, it would no longer be considered a risk to take him.

Six games missed in 3 seasons really isn’t that bad for the NFL. It’s about time someone has a little good to say about Moss. If Moss falls that late in anyones fantasy draft then they got a steal. Moss will have a big year.

Fanprophet,
I agree with you that missing three games is not the many, but when he hadn’t missed a single game his first six seasons, I felt it was worth noting as a trend might be beginning.
I think Randy Moss is a very skilled receiver. I am not sure if he can have a huge year with the way Brady spreads the ball around, but if he can stay healthy, I think he will be very productive.
Thank you for the comment.
