2008 Fantasy Football Player Profile-Brandon Marshall

WR Brandon Marshall, Denver Broncos

2007 Stats: 102 receptions, 1325 receiving yards, 7 TDs
Projected 2008 Stats: 98 receptions, 1423 receiving yards, 13 TDs
Projected Fantasy Round: 4th Round
Wide Receivers to be picked ahead of Brandon Marshall: Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, Reggie Wayne, etc.

Fantasy Outlook:

Why you should draft Brandon Marshall: Marshall is ideal for a point per reception league as he had 12 games last season with at least five receptions.  He also had four games where he eclipsed the century mark in receiving yards.  With the departure of Javon Walker, Marshall is without a doubt the go-to guy for Jay Cutler.

Why you may want to stay away from drafting Brandon Marshall: Marshall is going to see a lot of double coverage this season as he is the most lethal weapon in the Broncos aerial attack.  For as talented as Marshall is, he was still limited to under triple figures in receiving yards in nine consecutive games during one stretch of the season as well as being held scoreless in ten contests. Furthermore, Marshall has made his share of blunders off-the-field that could potentially lead to a suspension if he is not careful.

Bottom Line: Marshall is flirting with being an elite fantasy wideout, and he would be a steal in the third round or beyond.

I like Marshall’s football ability, but I am starting to question his off the field character. I wouldn’t draft him before round 5.

But I wanted to commend you on your fantasy draft on expertdraft.com, You drafted Marion Barber, Larry Johnson, Big Ben, and other solid picks. I think you have the best overall team. You should win the league, congrats on your great draft.

    The Advisor,

I agree with you that Marshall does come with somewhat or risk, due to his off-the-field behavior.

I appreciate your feedback on my fantasy team. Historically, I have not faired well in expert leagues as I am involved in so many leagues, that the other fantasy owners were checking their teams much more frequently. Therefore, they took all the quality free agents.

I just hope this year I can monitor my team more often. There are some good teams in this league, so it should be a fun fantasy season.

    Thank you for the comment.
