2008 Fantasy Football Player Profile-Darren McFadden

RB Darren McFadden, Oakland Raiders

2007 Stats: N/A
Projected 2008 stats: 1039 rushing yards, 477 receiving yards, 12 total TDs
Projected Fantasy Round: 2nd Round
Running backs to be picked ahead of Darren McFadden: LaDainian Tomlinson, Adrian Peterson, Joseph Addai, etc.

Fantasy Outlook:

Why you should draft Darren McFadden: McFadden is already drawing comparisons to Adrian Peterson as they both possess dynamic athletic ability.  In 2007, Peterson was able to rush for more than 1300 rushing yards and 13 total touchdowns, which has several fantasy owners believing that McFadden could put up similar numbers in 2008.

Why you may want to stay away from drafting Darren McFadden: The Raiders have a loaded young backfield in McFadden, Justin Fargas, and Michael Bush.  Therefore, McFadden with have to split his carries and touches.  Furthermore, it might be a little unrealistic to expect McFadden to be able to match the success that Peterson had in his rookie campaign.

Bottom Line: McFadden has the potential to be a solid No.1 fantasy running back, but it is difficult to put him amongst the upper tier backs before his first real NFL carry.  McFadden is a classic high risk, high reward fantasy player, that will likely be taken within the first few rounds of most drafts.
