2008 Fantasy Football Player Profile-Earnest Graham

RB Earnest Graham, Tampa Bay Buccaneers

2007 Stats: 898 rushing yards, 324 receiving yards, 10 total TDs
Projected 2008 Stats: 1033 rushing yards, 477 receiving yards, 9 total TDs
Projected Fantasy Round: 3rd Round
Running backs to be picked ahead of Earnest Graham: LaDainian Tomlinson, Adrian Peterson, Joseph Addai, etc.

Fantasy Outlook:

Why you should draft Earnest Graham: Graham came out of nowhere last season and spearheaded the Tampa running game.  There was a stretch during the 2007 season where Graham had at least one rushing touchdown in six straight games, and he had three contests where he surpassed triple figures in rushing yards.

Why you may want to stay away from drafting Earnest Graham: Graham won’t sneak up on any opposing defenses this season, and it remains to be seen if he can duplicate his success that he had in 2007.  Last season, Graham was limited to under 30 rushing yards in five games, and he was held scoreless in seven contests.

Bottom Line: It still remains to be seen how good Graham can be, but he should come at a nice value this season as he is going in the third round in many fantasy drafts.  With that being said, Graham should be viewed as more of a No. 2 fantasy running back unless he is able to prove otherwise.

    Roland,

Nearly every team in the league operates on a time share backfield approach. So there is little doubt that Graham will be splitting carries. I think it will be end up breaking down like this, Graham getting about 15 carries a game, and Williams and Dunn getting around 10 carries a game combined.

Then eventually I think there is a decent chance that Dunn and/or Williams will get an injury, and then Graham will see even more carries.

However, Williams is the wild card. If he can stay healthy and return to the success he had his rookie year, he could eventually regain his starting job. Although, I am not expecting that to happen this season. Dunn will contribute in the running and passing game, but he is at the stage of his career where his touches will be somewhat limited.

    I hope that helps.

    Thank you for the comment.
