2008 Fantasy Football Player Profile-Jason Witten

TE Jason Witten, Dallas Cowboys

2007 Stats: 1145 receiving yards, 7 TDs
Projected 2008 Stats: 1189 receiving yards, 9 TDs
Projected Fantasy Round: 5th Round
Tight Ends to be picked ahead of Jason Witten: Antonio Gates

Fantasy Outlook:

Why you should draft Jason Witten: Witten has not missed a game since his rookie year in 2003.  Last season, he had ten games where he had at least six receptions, and he began the year with touchdowns in three out of his first four games.  In addition, Witten eclipsed the century mark in receiving yards on four occasions.

Why you may want to stay away from drafting Jason Witten: In 2007, Witten had four touchdowns through Week 5, but he only had three scores the rest of the season.  He also was limited to under 60 receiving yards in six contests.

Bottom Line: Witten has emerged as being one of the elite tight ends, and in some fantasy drafts, he is being taken ahead of Antonio Gates.  Witten is a steal in the fifth round and beyond, and he will likely flirt with catching 100 passes again in 2008.
