2008 Fantasy Football Player Profile-Roy Williams

WR Roy Williams, Detroit Lions

2007 Stats: 63 receptions, 836 receiving yards, 5 TDs
Projected 2008 Stats: 75 receptions, 1155 receiving yards, 8 TDs
Projected Fantasy Round: 4th Round
Wide Receivers to be picked ahead of Roy Williams:  Randy Moss, Terrell Owens, Reggie Wayne, etc.

Fantasy Outlook:

Why you should draft Roy Williams: Over the last two seasons, Williams has averaged 1073 receiving yards and six touchdowns.  In 2007, Williams had three games (out of the 12) where he had triple figures in receiving yards, including once over 200 yards.

Why you may want to stay away from drafting Roy Williams: In his four year career, Williams has only had one season where he has been able to play in all 16 games.  Furthermore, Williams is a very hot and cold player as he showcased in 2007 by having one game with 204 receiving yards, and then six games (out of 12) where he was held under 50 receiving yards.

Bottom Line: Williams comes with a buyers beware when you draft him as he will rack up huge fantasy numbers one week and then disappear the next.  Consequently, he should be viewed as a lower tier No.1 wide receiver in fantasy.
