2008 Fantasy Football Player Profile-Tony Romo

QB Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys

2007 Stats: 4211 passing yards, 38 total TDs, 19 INTs
Projected 2008 Stats: 4487 passing yards, 40 total TDs, 14 INTs
Projected Fantasy Round: 2nd Round
Quarterbacks to be picked ahead of Tony Romo: Tom Brady and Peyton Manning

Fantasy Outlook:

Why you should draft Tony Romo: Last season, Romo had seven games where he eclipsed 300 passing yards, and he had 12 contests where he threw multiple touchdowns.  In fact, Romo tossed at least four touchdowns on four separate occasions, and he had two additional games where he threw for three scores.

Why you may want to stay away from drafting Tony Romo: In 2007, Romo only had three games where he didn’t throw an interception, and he threw fives picks in one game in Week 5.  Furthermore, Romo averaged just 185 passing yards, nearly two interceptions, and not even a touchdown in the last three games of the season.

Bottom Line: Romo is an emerging NFL star that racks up huge fantasy numbers, which is music to the ears of most fantasy owners.  Consequently, he should be viewed as an upper echelon fantasy quarterback that will be a bargain to get in the second round or beyond.
