2008 Fantasy Football Player Profile-Willie Parker

RB Willie Parker, Pittsburgh Steelers

2007 Stats: 1316 rushing yards, 164 receiving yards, 2 total TDs
Projected 2008 Stats: 1244 rushing yards, 219 receiving yards, 8 total TDs
Projected Fantasy Round: 2nd Round
Running backs to be picked ahead of Willie Parker: LaDainian Tomlinson, Adrian Peterson, Joseph Addai, etc.

Fantasy Outlook:

Why you should draft Willie Parker: Over the last three seasons, Parker has averaged 1337 rushing yards, and he is just one year removed from having 1494 rushing yards and 16 total touchdowns.  Last season, Parker had eight games where he eclipsed triple figures in rushing yards.

Why you may want to stay away from drafting Willie Parker: In 2007, Parker only scored twice all year, and he was held under 55 rushing yards on four occasions.  Furthermore, the Steelers drafted Rashard Mendenhall in the first round, which means he will likely steal a lot of Parker’s touches.

Bottom Line: Parker racks up a lot of rushing yards, and he has the speed to register long touchdowns.  Therefore, he should be viewed as a No.1 fantasy running back, but just a tier under the upper echelon running backs.  Parker would be a good value in the second round or beyond.

What are you basing parker’s projections on ? everyone feels he would do bad due to mendenhall, but you feel otherwise. how sure are you about your projection or him performing close to what you projected ?
