I follow your comments throughout the season. For the most part they seem reasonably well thought out. I don’t understand the thought process behind the Falcons winning one game. They have a better team than last year, they are a season removed from the Vick issues, and they have a stable front office and coaching staff. I don’t see why you think they will be worse than last year. They will probably finish in or near the cellar of the NFC South, but if they only have 1 win I will burn my jerseys and send you the ashes.

Dirty Bird,
I think the Falcons are in a huge transition period right now. I think it is going to take a couple years for them to be able to get back on the winning track. With that being said, I think there can be arguments made for Atlanta only winning one game, and there can be some made about them winning as many as eight games.
If you think about last year at this time, nobody would have predicted that the Dolphins would go 1-15. I think at some point in the season, Matt Ryan will be handed the starting job. It is hard to succeed in the NFL your rookie year as a quarterback, due to the speed of the game. In fact, Troy Aikman went 1-15 his rookie year.
In summary, I don’t have anything against the Falcons, and I feel they can win more than one game. However, I made the prediction of them winning only one game, because I think it will be hard for them to win more than that this season.
I hope I am wrong, and I hope this doesn’t make you want to stop reading my site.
Thank you for the comment.

I agree with most of those picks for the season. Jags look strong and I do think they can overtake the Colts this year. I wouldn’t count the Pats out of the Super Bowl again this year as much as I hate them. I also think the Falcons will do better than 1 and 15 but not much better then 3 and 13.

Hey Doc. Now I also have follows your comments and, on ocasion, even agreed; untill now. Where are you getting your numbers from? and how the heck are you able to put the Redskins in last place of NFC East, with that record? Dallas has looked good in the past year, but gees, not that good. I do not agree at all.

Roadman,
I actually have Dallas with a worse regular season record than they had last year. I still think the Cowboys have the most talented roster in the division. With that being said, the NFC East is easily the most competitive division in football, and any of the teams are capable of winning the division.
Where your opinion and mine likely differ, is that I feel the Redskins are just a little below the other teams in the division at the skilled positions. However, they are building their team with some young talent on offense. I think Washington will be ready to compete for the division title, and perhaps more, in two years. I think by then Campbell and his young receivers will be fully developed.
Thank you for the comment!

I’m sorry but whom ever predicted Da Bears to go 6-10 is on serious narcotics!! You think Aaron Rogers and Trevarus Jackson are your answers in the nfc north. Not only do the bears win their devision but they win it at 13-3!!

Charles,
My guess is that you did not predict that the Bears would go 7-9 last year. I would be interested in hearing how you feel they have improved from last season.
I think the loss of Bernard Berrian is going to be a crushing blow to an already pedestrian offense. You mentioned the quarterback question marks with the Packers and Vikings, which I agree, they are worth questioning. However, I don’t think that Orton and Grossman are exactly quarterbacks you can count on from week-to-week either.
The uncertainty of all the signal callers in the NFC North is why I have the division winner at only 10-6.
Lastly, Cedric Benson has been less than stellar in his career so far, and now that Berrian is gone, there is not a receiver on the team that will scare an opposing defense.
The Bears do have Hester that will make some plays, mainly his plays on special teams, and Chicago still has a great defense. Although, the secondary is not as good as it once was.
If the Bears finish better than 6-10, I would not be shocked, after all they were in the Super Bowl a couple years ago. However, I just don’t think they have a good enough offense and the rest of the teams in the division have made moves to catch up with them on defense.
Thank you for the comment.

There seems to be a lack of research here on the Bears…you are aware thet the entire Bears defensive backfield (Pro-Bowl selections involved in this) was out for a good portion of the season last year? Including a top sack leader and pro-Bowl selection DT Tommie Harris? And now they are healthy again with a few changes, and the “O” is somewhat improved, but needs alot of work. Look how they finished the season when players came back from the “DL”. I don’t wear “rose colored glasses” and say my team will win the SuperBowl every year like some, but they should finish around 9 wins. As for predictions, it only goes by what they have at the moment, there is still alot that can happen (FA’s,Trades,Injuries,Players cut etc) before the season even starts.

Cleveland made huge upgrades in the offseason while Pittsburg lost Faneca, their best O-lineman. Being that both teams were 10-6 last year how do you rationalize this?

Sean,
I agree with you that the Browns have made nice upgrades, and I agree with you that the Steelers will miss Faneca. However, I think they had a nice draft adding key players in skill positions on an already solid offense.
The Steelers are one of the teams that will always be tough to beat in games, and I don’t think it is unrealistic to think they could win 10 games with Roethlisberger, Parker, and company. Not to mention, they have a solid defense.
Thank you for the comment!

Giants 3rd in NFC east? Superbowl Champs Third in their division is in my opinion possible, but unlikely. While the NFC East is Easily the best conference in all of Pro Football, One would think that after all the doubt last year the New York Football Giants would be granted just a little more respect. While i agree the cowboys have a better team on paper, The G-Men showed in the postseason that they are one of the most cohesive teams in Football.
8 road games = 8 wins

William,
I certainly did not intend to show lack of respect to the Giants. I just think the NFC East is so good, they will beat each other up. Even though the Giants won it all last season, they didn’t have the best regular season record, is it is possible they may not again this year.
With that being said, I think the G-Men are talented enough to win the division, but I think Dallas will win the division again this year.
Thank you for the comment.

Hey to the guys bringing up the bears and saying they’ll be winning the division…one thing…BWAHAHAHAHA GIVE ME A HIT….you may now have the worse offense in the NFC possibly the NFC North…you think you can win with using all your Quarterbacks at least once in the year finding out they are all crap…with some backup recievers and a beaten up Kevin Jones….yea keep dreaming…your Defense will be good…your special teams will be good….but the offense will not do anything to scare other defenses…..since you can make stupid predictions Bear fans let me make one…your Bear’s O will not score a single TD until week 12…when the ball slips out of Grossman’s hand and land in an O-linemans hands and he scores a TD…from 1 yard…..but the way you got it will be from Hester feeling so bad for your O he stops at the 1 yard line
