2009 Fantasy Football Player Profile-Andre Johnson

WR Andre Johnson, Houston Texans

2008 Stats: 115 receptions, 1575 receiving yards, 8 TDs
Projected 2009 Stats: 108 receptions, 1470 receiving yards,10 TDs
Projected Fantasy Round: 3rd Round
Wide Receivers to be picked ahead of Andre Johnson: Reggie Wayne, Terrell Owens, Randy Moss, etc.

Fantasy Outlook:

Why you should draft Andre Johnson: If you exclude his rookie season, Johnson has averaged 99 receptions, 1288 receiving yards, and over six scores per season in the years he was able to play in all sixteen games.  Last season, Johnson had double digit receptions in seven games, and he surpassed 100 receiving yards eight times.  In fact, he was able to torch the Tennessee Titans in Week 15 to the tune of 207 receiving yards.

Why you may want to stay away from drafting Andre Johnson:  Johnson seems to have good seasons every other year.   If that pace holds true, that would mean this season would be his off-year.  Johnson missed a combined total of ten games in 2005 and 2007, which means he is a bit of a risk in terms of durability.

Bottom Line: Johnson is emerging as an upper echelon fantasy wideout, and if he can play a full season in 2009, he can be penciled in for 100 receptions and eight scores.
