Why you should draft Antonio Gates: Over the last four years, Gates has averaged 928 receiving yards and nine touchdowns, while only missing one game in that span.   Last season, Gates had at least four receptions in nine games. 

Why you may want to stay away from drafting Antonio Gates: In 2008, Gates had 15 fewer receptions and 280 less receiving yards than he did in 2007.  While Gates seems to play through his injuries, there is little doubt his production dips when he is not 100 percent. 

Bottom Line: Gates can be counted on for playing 16 games, and he continues to be among the most productive at his position.  Consequently, Gates should be considered an upper tier tight end in fantasy.
