2008 Stats: 5069 passing yards, 34 total TDs, 17 INTs
Projected 2009 Stats:  4782 passing yards,  36 total TDs, 16 INTs
Projected Fantasy Round: 2nd Round
Quarterbacks to be picked ahead of Drew Brees: Tom Brady and Peyton Manning

Fantasy Outlook:

Why you should draft Drew Brees: Over the last three seasons, Brees has averaged 4636 passing yards and 29 total touchdowns.  In 2008, Brees surpassed 300 passing yards an eye-popping ten times, including two 400 yard efforts.  In addition, Brees also had 11 games where he threw for multiple scores.

Why you may want to stay away from drafting Drew Brees: Brees is clearly one of the premier fantasy quarterbacks.  Consequently, he will cost an early round pick, which means fantasy owners will have to pass up on some of the upper echelon running backs in order to land Brees.

Bottom Line: Brees can be penciled in for 16 games, 4400 passing yards, and nearly 30 touchdowns, even on his down years.  Brees should be viewed as one of the top three fantasy quarterbacks, and would be a steal in the third round or beyond.
