2009 Fantasy Football Player Profile-Frank Gore

RB Frank Gore, San Francisco 49ers

2008 Stats: 1036 rushing yards, 373 receiving yards, 8 total TDs
Projected 2009 Stats: 1177  rushing yards, 414 receiving yards, 10 total TDs
Projected Fantasy Round: 2nd Round
Running backs to be picked ahead of Frank Gore: Adrian Peterson, LaDainian Tomlinson, Michael Turner, etc.

Fantasy Outlook:

Why you should draft Frank Gore: Before Gore was put in the Fun-N-Gun offense of Mike Martz, he was able to rush for 1695 yards in 2006.  Despite having less carries each season since the aforementioned 2006 campaign, Gore still managed to eclipse quadruple figures in rushing yards each season.

Why you may want to stay away from drafting Frank Gore:  In his four year career, Gore has only been able to play in all 16 games on one occasion.  In his last four games in 2008, Gore averaged a mere 50 rushing yards per contest and didn’t have a single rushing touchdown in that span.

Bottom Line: If Gore can stay healthy, and if the Niners are willing to commit to running the ball, he should once again have a another solid fantasy season.  However, since neither are a certainty, Gore should be viewed as a medium risk, high reward fantasy running back that will likely be taken within the first couple rounds.
