2009 Fantasy Football Player Profile-Kyle Orton

QB Kyle Orton, Denver Broncos

2008 Stats: 2972 passing yards, 21 total TDs, 12 INTs
Projected 2009 Stats: 3255  passing yards,  26 total TDs, 18 INTs
Projected Fantasy Round: 10th Round
Quarterbacks to be picked ahead of Kyle Orton: Tom Brady, Peyton Manning, and Drew Brees

Fantasy Outlook:

Why you should draft Kyle Orton: Last season, Orton had seven games where he threw for multiple scores.  He also had five contests where he strictly passed the ball to his own teammates, rather than the opposing team.  Orton will now have Brandon Marshall and Eddie Royal at his disposal, which are a pair of lethal threats that can make any quarterback look good.

Why you may want to stay away from drafting Kyle Orton: In his three year career, Orton has failed to play in a total of 15 games.  In 2008, Orton was picked off more than once in five games, and he was held under 200 passing yards on nine separate occasions.

Bottom Line: Orton technically hasn’t even been named the starter as of yet.   However, odds are they he will go into Week 1 as the No. 1 quarterback.   With Marshall and Royal as his wideouts, Orton could easily eclipse 3000 passing yards in 2009.  However, he should still be viewed as more of a No. 2 fantasy quarterback until he proves otherwise.

There is no doubt that Orton is the starter day 1. As far as take him or not, if he’s anything he’s a backup.
