2009 NFL Team Needs-Carolina Panthers

Defensive End: It is still possible that the Panthers could deal Julius Peppers. Even if the keep Peppers, Tyler Brayton does not command a double team on the opposite side. Brayton plays the run far better than he does pressuring the quarterback. Look for Carolina to find another pass-rushing end via the draft.

Cornerback:Chris Gamble has the left  side of the secondary solidified. However, the Panthers are unsure if they currently have the right corner position figured out. Richard Marshall will likely be the opening day starter, but he regressed last season. Carolina figures to look to add some much needed depth at corner.

Defensive Tackle: The Panthers could really afford to bolster their depth behind Maake Kemoeatu and Damione Lewis. This is a class that has plenty of talent at defensive line, which will work in Carolina’s favor.

Quarterback: Jake Delhomme is on the wrong side of 30, which means that Carolina will have to eventually find his replacement. For now, Josh McCown is a serviceable backup, and Matt Moore has opened a few eyes as well. With that being said, look for the Panthers to devote a pick at some point in the draft in attempts to land a potential franchise quarterback.

Guard: Carolina has a solid offensive line. However, they lack depth at the guard position. With that being said, they have the luxury to wait until day two to address this need.

Draft Candidates: DE Lawrence Sidbury Jr., Richmond, DE Kyle Moore, USC, CB Victor Harris, Virginia Tech,CB Bradley Fletcher, Iowa, DT Ron Brace, Boston College, DT Mitch King, Iowa, QB Jason Boltus, Hartwick, QB Stephen McGee, Texas A&M, G C.J. Davis, Pittsburgh, G Maurice Miller, Ole Miss
