2009 NFL Team Needs-Green Bay Packers
Defensive End: The Packers found out how much depth they lacked last season when Cullen Jenkins got injured. Once Jenkins left the lineup, their outside pass rush went with him.
Outside Linebacker: Green Bay will be switching to 3-4 defense this year, which means it is vital for them to find some big-time pass rushers. They already have Aaron Kampman, but the Packers could afford to bring in more speed rushers that will command double teams.
Nose Tackle: Similar to the need for outside linebacker, Green Bay will likely look to bring in a necessary position to better fit their new scheme. Ryan Pickett figures to be the starting nose tackle, but look for the Packers to add some depth to help close down the middle.
Tight End: Donald Lee has shown flashes of potential, but they have little other proven talent at the position. Since Lee had a dip in production last season, the need at tight end has heightened.
Running back: In 2008, Ryan Grant had a bit of a disappointing season. Behind Grant are adequate backs in Brandon Jackson and DeShawn Wynn. However, what they clearly lack is short yardage back that can be counted on to get the tough yards.
Draft Candidates: DE Tyson Jackson, DE Larry English, Northern Illinois, LB Kaluka Maiava, USC, LB Jonathan Casillas, Wisconsin, DT Terrance Knighton, Temple, DT Sammie Lee Hill, Stillman, TE Travis Beckum, Wisconsin, TE Anthony Hill, North Carolina State, RB Shonn Greene, Iowa, RB Arian Foster, Tennessee
