2009 NFL Team Needs-Kansas City Chiefs
Outside Linebacker: You can’t say that the Chiefs haven’t tried to help themselves at this position as they attempted via the draft and free agency. However, they have yet to find the right set of linebackers to get the job done. Look for them to address this need in day one of the draft.
Tight End: The Chiefs just traded away Tony Gonzalez, and they don’t have any kind of depth at the position now that he is gone. They can il-afford to wait until day two to snag a good pass-catching tight end.
Wide Receiver: The Chiefs need to find a burner than can deflect some attention away from Dwayne Bowe. This has become even more vital of a need now that they lost their other key weapon in Gonzalez.
Running back: Kansas City has high hopes for Jamaal Charles, but he was nowhere to be found last season. In addition, there is still a chance that Larry Johnson could be cut or traded. In other words, the Chiefs will consider taking a running back to add talent at depth.
Center: Rudy Niswanger does not appear to be the answer at center. Even if the Chiefs allow him to keep his starting spot, they have next to no depth behind him.
Draft Candidates: LB Aaron Curry, Wake Forest, LB Tyson Jackson, LSU, TE Chase Coffman, Missouri, TE James Casey, Rice, WR Austin Collie, BYU, WR Sammie Stroughter, Oregon State, RB Shonn Greene, Iowa, RB Devin Moore, Wyoming, C Jonathan Luigs, Arkansas, C Rob Bruggeman, Iowa
