2009 NFL Team Needs-New Orleans Saints

Cornerback: New Orleans has had a tough time trying to solidify their cornerback position.   It appears to be time for them to devote an early pick to add stability to their secondary.

Outside Linebacker: Greg Williams was brought in to ensure the Saints develop into an aggressive defense.  Look for New Orleans to draft an athletic and disruptive playmaker at linebacker.

Running back: Reggie Bush and Pierre Thomas are very talented backs.  However, Bush has difficulties staying on the field. In addition, the Saints lack the workhorse running back that can be counted on to get the tough yards.

Defensive End: Despite having Will Smith and Charles Grant, New Orleans is still in need of bringing in pass rushers. However, with the aforementioned duo locked in as starters, the Saints can afford to wait until the second say of the draft to address this need.

Safety: This position was clearly the weakness for the Saints in 2008. Consequently, they acquired Darren Sharper during the off-season.  Look for them to bring in a young safety to compete for playing time.

Draft Candidates: CB Alphonso Smith, Wake Forest, CB Malcolm Jenkins, Ohio State, LB Clint Sintim, Virginia, LB Connor Barwin, Cincinnati, RB Shonn Greene, Iowa, RB Andre Brown, North Carolina State, DE Orion Martin, Virginia Tech, DE Stryker Sulak, Missouri, S Curtis Taylor, LSU, S Derek Pegues, Mississippi State
