2009 NFL Team Needs-Philadelphia Eagles

Safety: The Eagles watched Brian Dawkins and Sean Considine soar out of Philly, which leaves a gaping hole in their secondary. Quintin Mikell and Sean Jones are serviceable, but they can clearly afford to bring in some talent at the safety position.
Running back: Brian Westbrook isn’t getting any younger, and Correll Buckhalter split town to go to Denver. That will likely be reason enough for them to select a running back. If per chance it isn’t, they can also rely on the fact they were pathetic at 3rd down and short yardage last season. Look for them to take a running back, and perhaps even a fullback in this upcoming draft.
Offensive Tackle: The Eagles should be targeting a replacement for Tra Thomas at tackle in the 2009 NFL draft. They also have other areas in the line that could afford to be strengthened. Don’t be surprised if Philadelphia drafts a couple offensive linemen by the time it is all said and done.
Wide Receiver: Last year, the Eagles selected DeSean Jackson, which appears to have been a smart move. Now they need to find a reliable target to lineup opposite Jackson. If they don’t want to gamble and draft another rookie, the Eagles might try to make a trade for a solid veteran wideout.
Tight End: Brent Celek showed signs that he has the ability to be productive, and Matt Schobel gives them some depth at the position. However, Donovan McNabb and the Eagles no longer have L.J. Smith at their disposal, which creates the need for them to draft a young pass catching tight end.
Draft Candidates: S William Moore, Missouri, S Michael Hamlin, Clemson, RB Knowshon Moreno, Georgia, RB Shonn Greene, Iowa, OT William Beatty, Connecticut, OT Gerald Cafdogan, Penn State, WR Brian Robiskie, Ohio State, WR Mohammad Massaquoi, TE Jared Cook, South Carolina, TE James Casey, Rice
