2009 NFL Team Needs-Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Defensive Tackle: Chris Hovan isn’t exactly getting any younger, nor has he really ever been confused with being a pass rusher.  The Bucs could benefit from getting more speed and penetration from their tackle spot.

Linebacker: With Cato June being booted out of town, the Buccaneers need to bring in some young linebackers to fill the void. Look for them to devote a couple picks on linebackers in this upcoming draft.

Quarterback: Jeff Garcia was not brought back, and the trio of Luke McCown, Brian Griese, and Josh Johnson aren’t exactly names that will show up on any of the Pro Bowl ballots. Tampa Bay did just sign Byron Leftwich, but he is merely a band-aid to get them by until they find their quarterback of the future.

Wide Receiver: Antonio Bryant was a pleasant surprise in 2008 as he stole the No.1 receiver spot from Joey Galloway. Speaking of Galloway, he signed with the Patriots during this off-season. With Galloway gone, and the ever-so-slow to develop Michael Clayton being their No.2, the Buccaneers still need to find some help at wideout.

Defensive End: Gaines Adams has underperformed in his first two seasons. With the Bucs keeping their 4-3 cover two base scheme, they will still rely heavily on getting pressure with their front four. In other words, Tampa Bay needs to find a talented pass rushing end that can lineup opposite Adams.

Draft Candidates: DT Peria Jerry, Ole Miss, DT Evander Hood, Missouri, LB Rey Maualuga, USC, LB Dannell Ellerbe, Georgia, QB Mark Sanchez, USC, QB Graham Harrell, Texas Tech, WR Louis Murphy, Florida, WR Rames Barden, Cal Poly, DE Rulon Davis, California, DE Nick Reed, Oregon
