Ask DR U: 2nd Opinion Please

Chris asks,  Last year, you evaluated my team, and I appreciated it. Please look at this year’s team. I think I will wait until after pre-season and then possibly trade a running back for either a better receiver or tight End. What do you think?

QB- Marc Bulger
QB- Phillip Rivers
WR-Santana Moss, Reggie Brown, Vincent Jackson, Santonio Holmes
RB- Joseph Addai, Ronnie Brown, Edgerrin James, Tatum Bell, Ladell Betts, Jerious Norwood
TE- Randy McMichael
K- Josh Scobee
Def- Pittsburgh

DR U: I think you are set at quarterback.  Bulger should put up some Herculean numbers this season, and if he happens to get injured, Rivers should be more than capable of racking up big stats for your team.  Your receivers are young and all have potential to be good.  I like the pick of Vincent Jackson.  I do not know that it will even be necessary to trade one of your running backs to get a receiver as your current wideouts should be more than adequate. However, you certainly can look to the waiver wire to acquire another receiver, if needed. Just remember, Marques Colston was on the bench in most leagues last season to begin the year. I would say the same for your tight end, if McMichael is not doing well, look for a free agent.

The key to your running backs will be how Ronnie Brown does.  If Brown is able to improve this season, then I think you are going to be set at running back, and your team will be very solid. Jerious Norwood and Joseph Addai are excellent fantasy backs to have, and Ladell Betts and Tatum Bell might begin the year as fantasy reserves, but they both could end up warranting starts for you at the end of the year.

Bottom line, your team looks pretty good on paper, and I think Bulger and Addai can make your team tough to beat.  Overall, I would rate your team a B.
