Ask DR U: Does My Team Need a Kick Start?
Dan asks, how would you rate my fantasy team?
QB Tony Romo
QB Jay Cutler
RB Willie Parker
RB Ronnie Brown
RB Cadillac Williams
RB Fred Taylor
WR Chad Johnson
WR Andre Johnson
WR Chris Chambers
WR Mark Clayton
WR Vincent Jackson
TE Antonio Gates
TE Eric Johnson
K Shayne Graham
K David Akers
Def Miami
Def Carolina
DR U: Similar to what Drew Brees did last season, I think Tony Romo is going to emerge onto the fantasy scene this year. I am not saying he will put up quite the numbers Brees did in 2006, but I am stating that you should be in good shape with him as your quarterback. Cutler is a great fantasy No.2, and if Romo struggles, then you should be able to insert Cutler into your lineup and still be okay.
I think the weakness of your team might be at the running back position, or at least that is where the most question marks lie at this time. Willie Parker is a solid fantasy back, especially in yardage leagues. However, Ronnie Brown, Carnell Williams, and Fred Taylor all figure to be starting running backs, but they are also very unreliable. That being said, they all go into 2007 with a chip on their shoulder, which could lead to stellar seasons respectively. We will have to stay tuned for that.
I think you are set at the wide receiver position. Chad Johnson is always good to have in fantasy as he likes to do his touchdown celebrations, which means he works harder than most to score points. Andre Johnson had a nice 2006 campaign, and even though Chris Chambers did not, everyone knows what he is capable of doing. I also feel that Vincent Jackson is going to put up some decent numbers this year for San Diego.
Bottom line, aside from you taking some risky running backs, and the fact that your two kickers share the same Bye week, I think you have a pretty good squad. I would rate your team a C+, but if one or two of your running backs not named Parker do well this season, then I think your team has the potential to be a B or higher.

Hey,
I just drafted last night in a 10 team league. I had 10th pick and managed to get Willie Parker and Peyton Manning with my first two picks, and then Cedric Benson with my 3rd pick. Anyway, my team looks like this:
QB- Peyton Manning
RB- Willie Parker, Cedric Benson
WR- Larry Fitzgerald, Reggie Brown, Mark Clayton,
TE- Jeremy Shockey
K- Robbie Gould
DEF- BaltimoreBench- Jake Delhomme, Deuce McAllister, Lamont Jordan, DJ Hackett, Matt Jones, Green Bay
I think I have pretty good depth at running back. This league is 20 yards receiving/rushing for 1 point and 6 points for a touchdown, so is very touchdown heavily scored. Also, a reception counts as a point.
For the first week, I was actually thinking of starting LaMont Jordan (my 13th round selection) over Benson. LaMont is playing the weak Lions defense, plus he will get a few receptions. To add onto that, LaMont will not have to share the ball because Dominic Rhodes is suspended and Michael Bush is injured. Then there’s also Deuce McAllister who is facing the Colts defense (which was a worse run defense than the Lions last year I beleive) but he will be sharing with Reggie Bush, but then again Deuce would probably get the carries near the goalline.
So basically, all in all, who should I start at running back between Benson, Jordan, and McAllister for Week 1?
Thanks.

Mark,
Your team looks stacked. Romo, Parker, Harrison, Houshmandzadeh, and Ryans are all going to have huge seasons. I think you should coast into playoffs.
Good Luck!

Don,
I think your team looks solid. If I were you, I would keep your running backs as they are, which means I would not do that trade. However, I would probably do that trade if you take the running backs out of the deal, let him keep Portis, and you keep Addai.
Good Luck!

Kip,
Your teams looks pretty solid, but you will have to monitor the health of some your players, namely James, Holt, and Glenn.
It appears that Terry Glenn should be ready to play in Week 1, but with him sitting out the entire Pre Season, his numbers could be down in Week 1.
It appears that you are starting the right players, but you may want to go with Holmes in place of Glenn in Week 1.
Good Luck!

Jordan,
You also need to be worried about Eli Manning. He has an injured shoulder, and he will likely miss a few games.
You still have some other good option such as; Holt, Ward, James, Alexander, and Curry.
Just go with James and Alexander as your running backs for now, and go find yourself a quartback.
Good Luck!

Am I taking too big of a risk starting the Colts defense this week? Everyone says not to, but that’s the same thing I heard last week. When the colts get a large lead (and they will), Young will be forced to air it out. What do you think?

Dr. U,
For week 6, would you start Marion Barber going against the Patriots defense or Brandon Jacobs against Atlanta on Monday night? Jacobs came back strong last week, the Giants are turning themselves around, and Atlanta is pitiful…..but Barber is such a strong runner with consistent TD numbers. Is the NE defense too much for him? What would you do?Thanks a ton–

You helped me a lot last week. I need help again. We have a regular leauge with three wide receivers. I have Reggie Wayne, Andre Johnson,Lee Evans and Kevin Curtis. I have been playing Wayne,Evans and Curtis. Curtis is not doing that well for me and I am playing for first place against Brady and Peterson’s fan points. I need all the fan points I can get. DJ Hackett is on the waiver wire. Would it be worth picking him up and starting him this week sitting Curtis out? It looks like Deion is not going to play and if he does will not play the whole game. Help Me Please.
Thank You
