Ask DR U: Helping My Team Score
Dave asks, I am in a scoring only league, where the only points come from scoring TDs, FGs, extra points. No points are given for yardage or defense. I was on vacation out of state when the live draft party was held and the "friends" who picked for me loaded me up with running backs before they even thought about WRs or QBs. I can start up to three RBs in this TD only league. Which three RBs should I start in Week 1?
DeShaun Foster Vs Atlanta
Rudi Johnson Vs Kansas City
Cadillac Williams Vs Baltimore
LaMont Jordan Vs San Diego
Kevin Jones Vs Seattle
DR U: Rudi Johnson and LaMont Jordan are must-starts in Week 1. The final spot is a toss up between Cadillac Williams and Kevin Jones. Both teams are at home facing pretty solid defenses. I would suggest using the Cadillac to give your team a jump start. Therefore, I am recommending Johnson, Jordan, and Williams to be your starters for opening week.

Do you think I am too thin at RB or WR? My RB and WR picks mostly are not top tier picks, but I feel they will have very a productive year.
We start 1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 W/R, 1 TE, 1 Def, 1 K.
Not too sure on week one best starts either, I know Gore, Jackson, Manning, Car, and Vanderjagt, looking for opinion on rest.
Thanks Dr U!

I have Gore, Foster and S. Jackson as my 3 rb’s, where I start 2 of them. Since Foster is going up aginst Atlanta, am I safe in starting Gore instead?

Slugg,
I think Delhomme is a solid quarterback, and I think Simms is going to have a breakout season. Your running backs are solid. Jackson will have a good year, and I think McGahee could put up even better numbers than Jackson.
Your wideouts are solid as well. I think Antonio Bryant and Roy Williams will have solid seasons, and Burress and Mason should rack up some numbers as well. Overall, I think you drafted well, and I would rate your team an A-. Good Luck.

Brian,
I think you are little thin at receiver. Chambers and Evans are solid, but the rest of the receivers are mediocre. I would suggest trading Mike Bell for a higher tier wide receiver. Then you could pick up a free agent running back, such as Jerious Norwood, Wali Lundy, Brandon Jacobs, or T.J. Duckett.
As far as your starters, you may have to look to bring in another kicker until Vanderjagt starts making kicks. Here is who I would start in Week 1:
QB Peyton Manning
RB Steven Jackson
RB Frank Gore
WR Chris Chambers
WR Lee Evans
WR/RB Mike Bell
TE Alge Crumpler
Defense Carolina
K Mike VanderjagtGood Luck,
