NFL Team Needs-Chicago Bears

2008 Chicago Bears Team Needs

Offensive Tackle: Fred Miller played miserable in 2007, which led to him being released in the off-season.  The Bears desperately need to find a starting left tackle, and since those are nearly impossible to find on the open market, they will have to look to the draft to fill that need.

Running back: Cedric Benson has been a disappointment to say the least, and he does not appear to be a reliable featured back. Garrett Wolfe isn’t exactly a  featured back either as he will likely be a career third down back, or even relegated to just special teams.  Chicago is in need of a speedy back that can break tackles for big runs. Consequently, look for the Bears to invest an early pick to give Chicago a back that can split carries with Benson.

Quarterback: If the Bears want to return to the Super Bowl, they need to find a more reliable signal caller than Rex Grossman.  Kyle Orton isn’t exactly the answer either. Chicago will likely spend a first day pick on a quarterback to add some healthy competition to the position.

Wide Receiver: Benard Berrian and Muhsin Muhammad left town, which means the Bears lost a lot of offensive production.  Chicago did sign Brandon Lloyd and Marty Booker.  The aforementioned duo are serviceable, but the Bears could afford to find a playmaker at wideout in the draft.

Draft Candidates: OT Jeff Otah, Pittsburgh, OT Chris Williams, Vanderbilt, RB Jamaal Charles, Texas, RB Steve Slaton, West Virginia, QB John David Booty, USC, QB Josh Johnson, San Diego, WR Jerome Simpson, Coastal Carolina, WR Dexter Jackson, Appalachian State
