NFL Team Needs-Green Bay Packers

2008 Green Bay Packers Team Needs

Cornerback: Al Harris and Charles Woodson have the starting job locked down, but their aggressive styles take a huge toll on them.  In other words, the Packers need to start looking now for their eventual replacements in the draft.

Tight End: Bubba Franks was cut this off-season, which leaves Donald Lee as the only legitimate target at tight end.  Even though last season the Packers liked to run four and five wide receiver sets, they may not be able to this year with Brett Favre being retired.  Even if they keep the spread offense, there will still be times where they use two tight end sets, which means Green Bay needs to find another tight end in the draft.

Quarterback: Favre retired, and since he refused to miss a start while he was playing, the Packers have no way of knowing if Aaron Rodgers has what it takes to be their future signal caller. Look for the Packers to snag a quarterback in the draft to add another arm to training camp and provide Rodgers with some healthy competition.

Guard: Green Bay has been unable to get consistent play out of their guard position.  Consequently, they figure to add some depth and competition to the position via the draft.

Draft Candidates: CB Reggie Smith, Oklahoma, CB Brandon Flowers, Virginia Tech, TE Martellus Bennett, Texas A&M, TE Craig Stevens, California, QB Brian Brohm, Louisville, QB John David Booty, USC, G Donald Thomas, Connecticut, G Eric Young, Tennessee
