NFL Team Needs-Indianapolis Colts
2008 Indianapolis Colts Team Needs
Defensive End: Dwight Freeney suffered a serious foot injury last season. Consequently, the pass rush of the Colts was virtually non-existent. The Tony Dungy Tampa-2 defense is predicated upon manufacturing a consistent pass rush. Look for the Colts to add some depth at the position via the draft.
Linebacker: Gary Brackett does not look like a prototypical middle linebacker, but he does play like one. However, it might be wise for the Colts to bring in a much bigger and more physical middle linebacker to be able to take on some offensive linemen. Brackett figures to be the starter, but look for Indianapolis to add some depth at linebacker.
Wide Receiver: Marvin Harrison proved he was not invincible in 2007 as he was injured for a large portion of the season. Reggie Wayne is a solid No.1 receiver, and Anthony Gonzalez proved he can be a reliable deep threat. However, the rest of the wideouts are average, at best. Look for the Colts to add a possession receiver to add some insurance for the aging Harrison.
Offensive Tackle: Tarik Glenn retired before last season, and rookie Tony Ugoh stepped in like he was a veteran. However, when Ugoh got hurt in the middle of 2007, it was clear that Indianapolis lacked depth at tackle. Look for them to fix that this year.
Draft Candidates: DE Cliff Avril, Purdue, DE Marcus Howard, Georgia, LB Lamar Myles, Louisville, LB Jameel McClain, Syracuse, WR Mario Manningham, Michigan, WR Earl Bennett, Vanderbilt, OT Tony Hills, Texas, OT Carl Nicks, Nebraska
