NFL Team Needs-San Francisco 49ers

2008 San Francisco 49ers Team Needs

Linebacker: The 49ers need to find some pass rushers in order to have their 3-4 defensive scheme function properly.  Over the last three seasons, San Francisco has not finished above 20th in quarterback sack percentage.  In other words, the 49ers will likely draft an outside linebacker early in the draft.

Wide Receiver: San Francisco cut Darrell Jackson as him and Ashley Lelie were not very productive in 2007.  The 49ers signed Bryant Johnson and Isaac Bruce, which are solid No. 2 or No. 3 receivers.  However, they still need to try and find a No. 1 wideout that can be a playmaker for years to come.

Defensive Line: The Niners have lost two 16-game starters in Bryant Young (retired) and  Marques Douglas (signed with Tampa Bay).  In other words, they need to add a lot of talent to their interior defense, which they will address in the upcoming draft.

Quarterback: Alex Smith, Shaun Hill, and J.T. O’Sullivan are the present for San Francisco, but none of them figure to be the future.  Therefore, the 49ers will likely draft a signal caller to add another arm to training camp.

Draft Candidates: LB Erin Henderson, Maryland, LB Beau Bell, UNLV, WR DeSean Jackson, California, WR Eddie Royal, Virginia Tech, DL Dre Moore, Maryland, DL Lionel Dotson, Arizona, QB John David Booty, USC, QB Josh Johnson, San Diego
