2010 Fantasy Football Player Profile-Marion Barber
RB Marion Barber, Dallas Cowboys
2009 Stats: 932 rushing yards, 221 receiving yards, 7 total TDs
Projected 2010 Stats: 984 rushing yards, 285 receiving yards, 11 total TDs
Projected Fantasy Round: 4th Round
Running backs to be picked ahead of Marion Barber: Chris Johnson, Adrian Peterson, Maurice Jones-Drew, etc.
Fantasy Outlook:
Why you should draft Marion Barber: Over the last four years, Barber has averaged 861 rushing yards and nearly 11 total touchdowns. Last season, Barber had one game where he eclipsed triple figures in rushing yards, and he had one game with multiple scores. In Week 2, he had 155 total yards and a touchdown against the New York Giants.
Why you may want to stay away from drafting Marion Barber: In his five year career, Barber has never had a 1,000 yard season. Even though he has only missed two games in the last two years, he has had to play hurt in almost every game in that span. Last season, Barber was limited to under 60 rushing yards in eight games, and he was held scoreless in nine contests.
Bottom Line: Since Barber has had issues staying healthy, and he is losing carries to Felix Jones, Barber should be viewed as a No.2 or No. 3 fantasy back until he proves otherwise.
2010 Fantasy Football Player Profile-Donald Brown
RB Donald Brown, Indianapolis Colts
2009 Stats: 281 rushing yards, 169 receiving yards, 3 total TDs
Projected 2010 Stats: 788 rushing yards, 444 receiving yards, 9 total TDs
Projected Fantasy Round: 6th Round
Running backs to be picked ahead of Donald Brown: Chris Johnson, Adrian Peterson, Maurice Jones-Drew, etc.
Fantasy Outlook:
Why you should draft Donald Brown: Brown scored a touchdown in two of his first four career games. Last season, Brown showed his big play potential by registering a 45 yard run and a 72 yard reception. If he can stay healthy in 2010, look for him to cover even more real estate.
Why you may want to stay away from drafting Donald Brown: In 2009, Brown never rushed for more than 60 yards in a game. In fact, he was limited to 40 rushing yards or fewer in all but one game that he played. Brown was also held scoreless in all but three contests.
Bottom Line: Brown has big play potential, but he should be viewed as no more than a No.2 fantasy running back until he proves otherwise.
2010 Fantasy Football Player Profile-Matt Hasselbeck
QB Matt Hasselbeck, Seattle Seahawks
2009 Stats: 3,029 passing yards, 17 total TDs, 17 INTs
Projected 2010 Stats: 2,444 passing yards, 15 total TDs, 9 INTs
Projected Fantasy Round: 11th Round
Quarterbacks to be picked ahead of Matt Hasselbeck: Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Phillip Rivers, etc.
Fantasy Outlook:
Why you should draft Matt Hasselbeck: The last year Hasselbeck was healthy enough to play in all 16 games (2007), he passed for 3,966 yards and 28 touchdowns. In 2009, Hasselbeck had two games where he threw for more than 300 yards, and he tossed multiple touchdowns in four games.
Why you might want to stay away from drafting Matt Hasselbeck: Over the last two years, Hasselbeck has missed 11 games and thrown 27 interceptions versus only 22 touchdowns. Last season, Hasselbeck was limited to under 200 passing yards in six games, and he threw multiple picks in four contests.
Bottom Line: Hasselbeck is an injury waiting to happen, so ironically he should be viewed as not much more than an injury replacement in fantasy football until he proves otherwise.
2010 Fantasy Football Player Profile-Jerricho Cotchery
WR Jerricho Cotchery, New York Jets
2009 Stats: 57 receptions, 821 receiving yards, 3 total TDs
Projected 2010 Stats: 77 receptions, 915 receiving yards, 4 total TDs
Projected Fantasy Round: 10th Round
Wide Receivers to be picked ahead of Jerricho Cotchery: Andre Johnson, Reggie Wayne, Randy Moss, etc.
Fantasy Outlook:
Why you should draft Jerricho Cotchery: Over the last three years, Cotchery has averaged 936 receiving yards. Last season, Cotchery had one game where he eclipsed 100 receiving yards, and he had at least four receptions in nine contests.
Why you may want to stay away from drafting Jerricho Cotchery: In 2009, Cotchery failed to score in any of his last six games. He was also held under 50 receiving yards in six games.
Bottom Line: Cotchery should be viewed as a serviceable No.3 or No. 4 fantasy wideout, and he is worth a look deep into the later rounds of the draft.
2010 Fantasy Football Player Profile-Larry Fitzgerald
WR Larry Fitzgerald, Arizona Cardinals
2009 Stats: 97 receptions, 1,092 receiving yards, 13 total TDs
Projected 2010 Stats: 95 receptions, 1,258 receiving yards, 11 total TDs
Projected Fantasy Round: 3rd Round
Wide Receivers to be picked ahead of Larry Fitzgerald: Andre Johnson, Reggie Wayne, Randy Moss, etc.
Fantasy Outlook:
Why you should draft Larry Fitzgerald: Over the last three years, Fitzgerald has averaged 97 receptions, 1,310 receiving yards, and 11 touchdowns. Last season, Fitzgerald has three games where he broke 100 receiving yards, and he had at least five receptions in 11 contests. He also ended the 2009 campaign scoring a touchdown in four out of the last five games.
Why you may want to stay away from drafting Larry Fitzgerald: In 2009, Fitzgerald was limited to under 50 receiving yards in six games. Fitzgerald could see a huge dip in his numbers in 2010 with Kurt Warner retiring during this off-season. Warner and Fitzgerald had Joe Montana and Jerry Rice-like chemistry, which might take Matt Leinart a couple seasons to develop with Fitzgerald.
Bottom Line: Fitzgerald should still be viewed a solid No. 1 fantasy receiver. However, the loss of Warner will likely hurt Fitzgerald’s stellar numbers. With that being said, he should catch 85+ passes and hit qraudruple digits in receiving yards for yet another season in 2010.
