2010 Fantasy Football Player Profile-Mark Sanchez
QB Mark Sanchez, New York Jets
2009 Stats: 2,444 passing yards, 15 total TDs, 20 INTs
Projected 2010 Stats: 3,677 passing yards, 22 total TDs, 16 INTs
Projected Fantasy Round: 8th Round
Quarterbacks to be picked ahead of Mark Sanchez: Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Phillip Rivers, etc.
Fantasy Outlook:
Why you should draft Mark Sanchez: Sanchez was given some gifts on offense this off-season when the Jets signed Santonio Holmes and LaDainian Tomlinson. The duo of Holmes and Braylon Edwards at wideout give Sanchez outstanding weapons to help him rack up some respectable fantasy numbers.
Why you may want to stay away from drafting Mark Sanchez: In 2009, the Jets were clearly a running team, and with the addition of Tomlinson, that is not expected to change in 2010. Last season, Sanchez was held without a touchdown pass in five games, and he failed to register a single 300 yard passing game.
Bottom Line: Sanchez should be viewed as a viable option as a No. 2 fantasy quarterback and is a nice value in the later rounds.
2010 Fantasy Football Player Profile-Jay Cutler
QB Jay Cutler, Chicago Bears
2009 Stats: 3,666 passing yards, 28 total TDs, 26 INTs
Projected 2010 Stats: 3,933 passing yards, 27 total TDs, 19 INTs
Projected Fantasy Round: 7th Round
Quarterbacks to be picked ahead of Jay Cutler: Peyton Manning, Drew Brees, Phillip Rivers, etc.
Fantasy Outlook:
Why you should draft Jay Cutler: Over the past two seasons, Cutler has averaged 4,096 passing yards and 27 total touchdowns. Last season, Cutler had three games with at least 300 passing yards. In addition, Cutler had eight games where he tossed multiple touchdowns.
Why you may want to stay away from drafting Jay Cutler: In 2009, Cutler had trouble remembering which team he played for as he threw multiple interceptions in seven games. He finished the season throwing 26 picks.
Bottom Line: Cutler should be viewed as a No. 2 fantasy quarterback as the Bears still lack weapons at wideout, and he simply throws too many picks to be considered a reliable No. 1 fantasy quarterback.
2010 Fantasy Football Player Profile-Percy Harvin
WR Percy Harvin, Minnesota Vikings
2009 Stats: 60 receptions, 790 receiving yards, 8 total TDs
Projected 2010 Stats: 77 receptions, 993 receiving yards, 11 total TDs
Projected Fantasy Round: 6th Round
Wide Receivers to be picked ahead of Percy Harvin: Andre Johnson, Reggie Wayne, Randy Moss, etc.
Fantasy Outlook:
Why you should draft Percy Harvin: Last season, Harvin had nine games with at least four receptions, and had had one game where he eclipsed 100 receiving yards. Harvin is a threat to score every time he touches the ball. He was able to score twice on kick returns in his rookie campaign.
Why you may want to stay away from drafting Percy Harvin: In 2009, Harvin was limited to under 50 receiving yards in seven contests. He was also held scoreless in nine games.
Bottom Line: Harvin should be viewed as a solid No. 3, flirting with a No. 2 fantasy receiver, and he is an excellent value in the middle rounds.
2010 Fantasy Football Player Proflile-Torry Holt
WR Torry Holt, New England Patriots
2009 Stats: 51 receptions, 722 receiving yards, 0 total TDs
Projected 2010 Stats: 55 receptions, 815 receiving yards, 3 total TDs
Projected Fantasy Round: Undrafted
Wide Receivers to be picked ahead of Torry Holt: Andre Johnson, Reggie Wayne, Randy Moss, etc.
Fantasy Outlook:
Why you should draft Torry Holt: Last season, Holt had five games with at least four receptions, and he had one game where he had over 100 receiving yards.
Why you may want to stay away from drafting Torry Holt: In 2009, Holt was limited to 50 receiving yards or fewer in eight games. He also failed to score a single touchdown the entire season. It was believed that the Patriots had found the fountain of youth in New England, but that just isn’t the case. Just ask Joey Galloway.
Bottom line: Holt should be viewed as no more than an injury replacement in fantasy this late in his career.
2010 Fantasy Football Player Profile-Marion Barber
RB Marion Barber, Dallas Cowboys
2009 Stats: 932 rushing yards, 221 receiving yards, 7 total TDs
Projected 2010 Stats: 984 rushing yards, 285 receiving yards, 11 total TDs
Projected Fantasy Round: 4th Round
Running backs to be picked ahead of Marion Barber: Chris Johnson, Adrian Peterson, Maurice Jones-Drew, etc.
Fantasy Outlook:
Why you should draft Marion Barber: Over the last four years, Barber has averaged 861 rushing yards and nearly 11 total touchdowns. Last season, Barber had one game where he eclipsed triple figures in rushing yards, and he had one game with multiple scores. In Week 2, he had 155 total yards and a touchdown against the New York Giants.
Why you may want to stay away from drafting Marion Barber: In his five year career, Barber has never had a 1,000 yard season. Even though he has only missed two games in the last two years, he has had to play hurt in almost every game in that span. Last season, Barber was limited to under 60 rushing yards in eight games, and he was held scoreless in nine contests.
Bottom Line: Since Barber has had issues staying healthy, and he is losing carries to Felix Jones, Barber should be viewed as a No.2 or No. 3 fantasy back until he proves otherwise.
