WEEK 17 Fantasy Football Player Projections-New Years Edition
NFL SATURDAY GAMES-NEW YEARS EDITION
DR U RECOMMENDED MUST START QUARTERBACKS
Drew Brees, San Diego Chargers Vs Denver Broncos
Over his last three games, Brees is averaging 25 completions, 232 yards, and more than a touchdown per game. DIAGNOSIS-The doc has prescribed several teams to rest their players, but the Chargers are not one of those teams.
DR U RECOMMENDED FANTASY SLEEPERS QUARTERBACKS
Eli Manning, New York Giants at Oakland Raiders
Since Week 10, Eli has thrown 12 interceptions, including seven in just the last four weeks. However, this week Manning will face a weak Raiders pass defense that will be without their leader, Charles Woodson. DIAGNOSIS-The doc cannot cure Manning from throwing interceptions, but Eli should be able to put up some healthy numbers this week.
DR U RECOMMNEDED SHOULD BENCH QUARTERBACKS
Jake Plummer, Denver Broncos at San Diego Chargers
This week, Plummer will likely only play for a portion of the game. DIAGNOSIS-The doc has recommended that Plummer get some rest for the playoffs.
DR U RECOMMENDED MUST START RUNNING BACKS
Tiki Barber, New York Giants at Oakland Raiders
Over his last three games, Barber has averaged 141 rushing yards per game. Barber should get a heavy dose of carries as the Giants chase down a playoff spot and division title. DIAGNOSIS-Barber’s name is found on the top of the eye chart in my office, which reads M. V. P.
DR U RECOMMENDED FANTASY SLEEPERS RUNNING BACKS
Tatum Bell, Denver Broncos at San Diego Chargers
Bell will get the start this week as Mike Anderson will be inactive with his ankle injury. DIAGNOSIS-The doc has seen the symptoms before, and no matter who starts at running back for Denver, they always rack up fantasy points.
Ron Dayne, Denver Broncos at San Diego Chargers
Ron Dayne should get to see more action with Mike Anderson being out with an ankle injury. In fact, Denver could decide to pull Tatum Bell out of the game to rest him for the playoffs. If they do that, then Dayne could see a significant amount of carries. DIAGNOSIS- The doc had the guts to recommend him, and it might be worth it to you to find the guts to start him.
DR U RECOMMNEDED SHOULD BENCH RUNNING BACKS
Mike Anderson, Denver Broncos at San Diego Chargers
Anderson is not going to play this week, due to an ankle injury. DIAGNOSIS-The Broncos are resting Anderson, so should you.
LaMont Jordan, Oakland Raiders Vs New York Giants
Jordan will not likely be able to play this week as he is suffering from a toe injury. DIAGNOSIS-Keep an eye on whether Jordan is going to be able to play, if he is able to play, go ahead and start him, unless you have better options available.
DR U RECOMMENDED MUST START WIDE RECEIVERS
Amani Toomer, New York Giants at Oakland Raiders
Over the last two games, Toomer has averaged 77 receiving yards and one touchdown per game. DIAGNOSIS-If your fantasy team is giving you a headache, what is it that you would need to cure it?… It’s a Toomer!
Randy Moss, Oakland Raiders Vs New York Giants
Moss had a decent game last week, snagging five passes for 72 yards. Moss will likely try and show the rest of the league that he can still play, especially if he thinks the Raiders will deal him this off-season. DIAGNOSIS-The doc expects Moss to put on a clinic this week.
DR U RECOMMENDED FANTASY SLEEPERS WIDE RECEIVERS
Reche Caldwell, San Diego Chargers Vs Denver Broncos
Caldwell might start this week if Eric Parker is unable to play. DIAGNOSIS-If you are itching to find a sleeper in fantasy, allow this recommendation of Caldwell to be your ointment.
DR U RECOMMNEDED SHOULD BENCH WIDE RECEIVERS
Ashley Lelie, Denver Broncos at San Diego Chargers
Lelie will likely play this week, but will also likely be yanked from the game early. DIAGNOSIS-The doc has recommended that Lelie get some rest for the playoffs.
NFL SUNDAY GAMES-NEW YEARS EDITION
DR U RECOMMENDED MUST START QUARTERBACKS
1. Tom Brady, New England Vs Miami Dolphins
2. Trent Green, Kansas City Chiefs Vs Cincinnati Bengals
3. Kyle Boller, Baltimore Ravens at Cleveland Browns
4. Carson Palmer, Cincinnati Bengals at Kansas City Chiefs
5. Kelly Holcomb, Buffalo Bills at New York Jets
DR U RECOMMENDED FANTASY SLEEPERS QUARTERBACKS
Josh McCown, Arizona Cardinals at Indianapolis Colts
Last week, McCown threw for 294 yards and two touchdowns. McCown has also had a couple games this season where he flirted with throwing for 400 yards. DIAGNOSIS-No MRI needed to see that McCown can rack up some passing yards.
DR U RECOMMNEDED SHOULD BENCH QUARTERBACKS
Brad Johnson, Minnesota Vikings Vs Chicago Bears
Over the last three weeks, Johnson has only averaged 179 passing yards per game. This week, he has the Herculean task of facing the Bears secondary. DIAGNOSIS-Brad Johnson belongs in the waiting room in fantasy this week against Chicago.
DR U RECOMMENDED MUST START RUNNING BACKS
1. Larry Johnson, Kansas City Chiefs Vs Cincinnati Bengals
2. Julius Jones, Dallas Cowboys Vs St. Louis Rams
3. Clinton Portis, Washington Redskins at Philadelphia Eagles
4. Carnell Williams, Tampa Bay Buccaneers Vs New Orleans Saints
5. Rudi Johnson, Cincinnati Bengals at Kansas City Chiefs
DR U RECOMMENDED FANTASY SLEEPERS RUNNING BACKS
Vernand Morency, Houston Texans at San Francisco 49ers
Morrency is expected to start at running back now that the Texans have placed Jonathan Wells on the injured reserve list. DIAGNOSIS: The doc believes Morency will show that he is also a good running back in the Reggie Bush Bowl.
Frank Gore, San Francisco 49es Vs Houston Texans
Over the last two games, Gore has averaged 74 rushing yards per game. DIAGNOSIS-The doc thinks the Texans defense might help escort Gore into the end zone to ensure that Houston will be able to draft Reggie Bush.
DR U RECOMMNEDED SHOULD BENCH RUNNING BACKS
Reuben Droughns, Cleveland Browns Vs Baltimore Ravens
Over the last two weeks, Droughns have averaged just 45 yards per game. Droughns has not had a rushing touchdown since Week 11. DIAGNOSIS-The X-Rays are in, and there was very little fumes found left in the tank of Rueben Droughns this season.
DR U RECOMMENDED MUST START WIDE RECEIVERS
1. Santana Moss, Washington Redskins at Philadelphia Eagles
2. Hines Ward, Pittsburgh Steelers Vs Detroit Lions
3. Anquan Boldin, Arizona Cardinals at Indianapolis Colts
4. Mark Clayton, Baltimore Ravens at Cleveland Browns
5. Chris Chambers, Miami Dolphins at New England Patriots
DR U RECOMMENDED FANTASY SLEEPERS WIDE RECEIVERS
Andre Johnson, Houston Texans at San Francisco 49ers
Last week, Johnson had 119 receiving yards and one touchdown. DIAGNOSIS-Playing against the 49ers secondary is a great way to put up some healthy stats.
DR U RECOMMNEDED SHOULD BENCH WIDE RECEIVERS
Muhsin Muhammad, Carolina Panthers at Minnesota Vikings
Over his last two games, Muhammad is averaging just 49 receiving yards per game. This week, he could get yanked early from the game to allow his body to rest for the playoffs. DIAGNOSIS-The doc suggested to bench Santana Moss last week, and he exploded for 160 receiving yards and three touchdowns (notice where the doc ranked Santana Moss this week). The doc will understand if you seek a second opinion on this recommendation.
